Royal College of Surgeons new venue revamped

Most brides relish picking something special for their something new, and B2B Megan Crofts managed to find hers when she chose The Royal College of Surgeons’ new venue in Edinburgh to host her big day.

Megan and fiancé Eric were so impressed with the plans for the £1.5 million refurbishment of the newly acquired building that they snapped up the venue for their May wedding, despite the building work being due for completion only two weeks before their chosen date.

If that wasn’t nail biting enough, Megan and Eric also live 370 miles away in Bristol, so they’ve relied on Megan’s parents, Trevor and Frances, to help out: “Of course some aspects of the planning have been difficult,” explains Megan.

“Figuring out colour schemes and flowers was tricky because we haven’t seen the interior or any colour schemes.”

“Living so far away has made things a little harder, but the team at the venue have been great at liaising with my parents on various matters, so it feels as though we’re all on the same wavelength on what our vision is for the big day, which has been very reassuring.

“It may seem a little risky to book a wedding in a venue that we haven’t seen yet and is so far from home, but the team at the venue have made everything so easy.”

Originally the Edinburgh University language school building, the new venue will be the fourth venue operated by The Royal College of Surgeons and the renovation will restore stunning Victorian features and a large central roof window, making a bright and airy space to host celebrations and events. The venue spans three floors, offering ample space for guests, who can also enjoy a tranquil courtyard that offers a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.
