The American Dream: David’s Bridal launches in Scotland

Here comes David’s Bridal. The mighty American institution made its first, monumental move across the pond in 2013, opening a flagship store at Westfield in London and is set to make its first foray north of the border by opening in Glasgow this December.

David’s Bridal made a huge impact in the States when it first launched over 60 years ago, thanks to its expert dress consultations that culminate in being able to take the gown home that day. Brides on a last-minute mission, prick up your ears.

More impressive still is its stock, which reads like a fashion week round-up but doesn’t ring through the till to the sound of bankruptcy: diffusion collections from Vera Wang, Zac Posen, Melissa Sweet and Oleg Cassini (to name but a few) line the rails.

The new Glasgow store at Braehead will house 10,000 square feet of bridal, bridesmaid, mother of the bride and occasion wear, as well as footwear and accessories. It will also stock Wonder, Jenny Packham’s début, Belle Epoque-inspired collection for David’s Bridal, which launches this February.

“The success of our first British store in Stratford has made us all the more excited to share news of our expansion in the UK bridal market,” says CEO Pamela Wallack. “Since our Stratford launch, David’s Bridal has had a hugely positive response from UK brides-to-be.”

We bet. Cue the stampede.
