[masterslider id=”35″]Even though Stephanie and Grant had been living in Australia for four years when they decided to get married, there was no place they wanted to exchange vows more than back home in Scotland.
“As you can imagine, the 11-hour time difference made things a little tricky,” laughs Stephanie. “I made lots of appointments before I flew home for three weeks in March last year. I arranged all the big things – the venue, the dress, the cake and the cars. Everything else was done via email or 2am phone calls.”
Describing themselves as “old souls at heart”, the duo wanted the wedding to have a vintage theme with a winter wonderland twist. Motown’s finest played in the background and old vinyl records doubled as table plans. Fab vintage tea-sets from the Green Cockatoo added to the old-school vibe, while VW camper vans transported the bridal party.
As Grant’s father Paul runs his own photography business, the wedding had a real personal touch – Paul was able to take charge of getting some exquisite shots while still enjoying being the FOG.
Stephanie describes the Humanist ceremony as a highlight: “The celebrant, Marjory McGee, brought so much join to our day there wasn’t a serious moment through the whole ceremony it was just laughing and crying through laughing.”
