“Outdoors outdoors outdoors,” was the mantra that James and Sarah say informed their wedding at Forter Castle where wild Scottish scenery and getting back to nature were key. They both fell in love with their venue: “We certainly felt like King and Queen of the castle. Words cannot describe the sheer beauty that lies both within and around the walls of Forter Castle. You have to see it to feel it,” say the twosome.
Although Sarah hates having her photo taken, she ended up being a huge fan of her wedding photographer, Amilight Images. “I love the way our photos turned out. The soft, real use of colour makes them tell an accurate tale. We barely knew Pamela and George were there for most of the day and everyone said how friendly and great they were. Our photo album is beyond beautiful and that is due to the time and effort Pamela has put in,” beams Sarah.
The wedding brought out the couple’s creative side, with the rings, Sarah’s dress, the favours, and the cake all masterminded by the bride and groom. With a focus on DIY and a wedding with only 14 guests (including a “mad dog”!), Sarah says her best advice to other couples is “break the rules not the bank.”

Venues The couple hired out Forter Castle for a long weekend.
Dress Sarah designed her dress and had it made by Paula at Inspired Brides.
Photographer Amilight Images. “It wouldn’t be possible for anyone to do a better job,” say the couple.
