Unbridaled passion – boutique with a difference

‘Unusual, uncommon and unique’ is the mantra that new kid on the bridalwear block, Unbridaled Boutique, lives by. The Ayr boutique – which opened at the end of September – stocks some of the freshest, most sought-after labels in wedding wear. Brides will find in store an eclectic mix of hand-picked and handmade gowns, all with a modern twist and unique flair. “Almost all the labels we sell are completely exclusive to us in Scotland,” explains owner Emily Plunkett. Along with Elizabeth Stuart’s romantic yet fashion-forward looks (that BSW has long been a fan of), you’ll find chic, modern silhouettes by Lara Hannah, covetable short dresses by Tobi Hannah, slinky antique-look gowns by London-based Belle & Bunty and – for the first time in Scotland – heavenly, ethereal creations from Barcelona’s Otaduy.

Whenever possible, appointments give brides-to-be two hours of undivided attention, allowing them to try on dresses in a relaxing and comfortable environment.” Inside, the boutique is an antidote to the shabby chic look that has dominated bridal shop décor of late, as Emily reveals: “Forget bird cages and gilded mirrors: we have sparkly lizards on the wall and dresses hanging from driftwood salvaged from Prestwick Beach.”
Summing up the boutique’s ethos, Emily says: “We aim to be a haven for brides seeking something different; a mecca for brides craving individuality and a hub for brides wanting to break the rules…or even more so – the bride who makes her own rules!”
