London calling as team BSW visits the fashion capital for the launch of the 2015 bridal collections

Usually found chained to their desks in a Glasgow office, editor Beth and editorial assistant Sarah broke free for a weekend in London at the start of April.

Excitingly, The Best Scottish Weddings magazine had been invited to be a media sponsor of one of the biggest bridal events in the calendar – White Gallery London – where the leading lights in the industry congregate at a plush glasshouse in Battersea Park to unveil their 2015 collections for buyers and press to swoon over. And swoon we did, as we took in glittering catwalk shows for Ian Stuart, Alan Hannah, Madeline Isaac-James, Emma Hunt and more (all from the front row!), and spent time chatting to designers like Terry Fox, Charlotte Balbier and Sassi Holford about the sartorial delights in store for next year’s brides.
The big trend was colour, as we spied many a creation in pretty pastel hues – think palest rose pink, gentle blush, baby blue and hints of soft gold and cappuccino. Away from pastel tones, applique floral detail was a big hit, and lace continued to be the fabric that designers turned to time and again. However, it was often used as an accent fabric providing contrast between the bodice and the skirt, rather than the all-over visions in lace we’ve been familiar with of late.
We’ll have a full report on the White Gallery in our July issue (on sale 11th July), along with news of our visit to sister event, the London Bridal Show, and all the gossip from the pop-up events we attended too.
