Susan and Gerrie Douglas-Scott were one of the first couples in Scotland to tie the knot after new same-sex marriage laws came into effect.
The longtime loves have been together since 1996, have five children and became civil partners in 2006.
They chose a blue theme for their wedding outfits, with Susan wearing a sparkly dark blue evening dress and Gerrie a blue bespoke suit with a red lining and red shoes, all accessorised with palladium wedding rings from Barclays Diamonds.
Among the wedding guests were Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Scottish Green Party co-convenor Patrick Harvie. The ceremony took place in Glasgow’s Southside just after midnight on Hogmanay morning.
Gerrie said: “I knew the first moment that I saw Susan I would spend my life with her and nothing has changed over the past 18 years. We became civil partners in 2006 but as soon as it was announced that we could marry I proposed to her. Every day since then I have proposed including when we were in the Arcade and I popped the question outside Barclays Diamonds and said why don’t we go in and get the wedding rings.”

The wedding had all the more meaning for Susan and Gerrie as they are both Humanist celebrants and have officiated at the marriages of more than 800 couples themselves.
Gerrie and Susan said: “Being married means everything to us – it shows our relationship is valued as much as anyone else’s in Scotland.”
