A traditional church ceremony was the order of the day for Mhari and Dan, who met at a church youth group when she was 16 and Dan was 17. “Getting married in church was important to us because we wanted our faith to be central to our wedding and marriage,” explains Mhari. “I was quite emotional during the vows and when the kiss was supposed to happen I made Dan (and everyone watching) wait till I blew my nose. Everyone laughed. I couldn’t kiss my new husband with snot on my face,” she giggles.
When it came to the dress, Mhari had to kiss a lot of frogs before she found ‘the one’: “I tried on over 100 dress over a period of six months and had about seven favourites in lots of different shops but when I finally saw my dress I knew it was the right one, even before I tried it on,” she explains.
The reception was one big party, with a ceilidh band, a DJ and a 13-piece band, iParty. “The dancefloor was packed all night and nobody wanted the celebration to end. iParty were phenomenal, even the staff couldn’t help but have a dance! They interacted really well with us and our guests and the brass section made it extra special. All our guests LOVED the music,” recalls Mhari.
