For Connie and Gavin, the reception venue was sorted as soon as they laid eyes on Kirknewton Stables in Midlothian. “We knew from the outset that we didn’t want a formal hotel wedding – we were looking for something a bit more unusual,” says Connie.
With the date firmly in the diary and just over 11 months to their big day, Connie and Gavin began to think about how they could put their stamp on their venue. “We wanted the day to have a really relaxed, country-style look. The venue itself was a great inspiration with its rustic walls and laid-back atmosphere,” explains Connie.
Thankfully, help was at hand in the shape of Connie’s mum who created the flowers, sourced props and dressed the marquee. “At Kirknewton, it’s pretty much a blank canvas! My mum’s really creative, so I knew that with her help, we could translate our ideas from imagination into reality,” says Connie. “She has even started doing other weddings off the back of mine!” Connie adds.
