Edinburgh bridal couturier Liliana Dabic launches new label Oscar Lili

Inspiration often comes from the unlikeliest of sources, but wedding dresses influenced by walls? We’re intrigued.

Couturier Liliana Dabic has been influenced by the jaw-dropping 19th-century biblical murals scaling the walls in Edinburgh venue Mansfield Traquair to produce a collection of gowns for 2016, under new label Oscar Lili: think softly layered pieces in muted pastel tones, form-fitting bias-cut dresses, plunging backs and contemporary separates.

Fittingly, the launch of Oscar Lili was held in Mansfield Traquair (where else?) and while dresses swished past the murals, Serbian singers Slobodan Stefanovic and Vesna Stankovic serenaded the crowd. The fashion show was made possible thanks to the support of Jimmy Choo, BlueSky Photographer, Ryan White Photography, Edward and Irywn Chocolatiers, 21st Century Kilts, Victoria Mallon Hair and Mina MUA.

The new Oscar Lili range, which has been custom made in Scotland, will be available from Liliana’s Queen Street boutique, La Novia, alongside her eponymous couture label and selected designs from labels such as Ian Stuart London, Pronovias and Stella York.

“With an increasing need for bridalwear which does not follow established, traditional trends, the house of Oscar Lili was born,” explains Liliana. “My aim is to design unique, comfortable bridal dresses which express a bride’s individuality.”
