If you’re size 18+, shopping for your dream dress isn’t always a dream experience. Trying to squeeze into too-small samples or worse – only being able to hold a dress in front of you as you look in the mirror – aren’t really the best ways to gauge whether a gown is right for you. No chance of that happening at Amo Sposa, a new bridal salon aimed at the curvier bride on Lindsay Street in Kilmarnock, as owner Maureen Menzies explains: “We have a wide range of samples on our rails from respected ‘curvy’ labels including Sonsie by Veromia, Beautiful Brides Plus and Callista, so any bride who’s size 16 to 32 will be able to try on at least three or four dresses, if not more.” In the light and airy boutique, brides will also be able to browse bridesmaid dresses by Dessy and Forever Yours (in sizes 4 to 32) and take advantage of the Dress Resale Service, whereby brides of any size on a short timescale can buy pre-loved gowns.
